General Situation
This Thursday, a high pressure ridge persists in the vicinity of Galicia while a moderate south-southwest flow establishes itself to the west of the ridge, ahead of a cold front circulating offshore over the Atlantic. On Friday, the cold front will circulate at midday at longitude 14°W with a moderate southerly flow ahead of the front. The high pressure ridge will persist on an axis extending from A Coruña to Vigo. On Saturday, the cold front will circulate over Vigo in the morning with the establishment of an unstable west-southwest flow behind the disturbed front.
Weather conditions at sea for the second stage
At 8am this Thursday morning, rookie Hugo Cardon on Sarth'Atlantique and sailor Charlotte Yven on Skipper MACIF 2023 were neck and neck, battling for first place in the rankings in the southern Bay of Biscay, after opting for a route close to the direct route. The many supporters of a southerly route were following the leading duo quite closely, while the few sailors on a westerly route were still penalized despite a stronger wind, which required them to tack more frequently.
