Choosing a sailor for the Combativeness Award is never easy. Everyone deserves it, but the Suzuki Combativeness Award for this first leg of La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec 2025 was awarded to Tom Dolan (Kingspan) for his self-sacrifice throughout the course. The Irish sailor, the defending champion, sailed almost the entire course (638 miles) with a wrist problem. Following a fall aboard his boat during the coastal course, Tom Dolan quickly felt severe pain in his left wrist. Once ashore and after an X-ray, the Irishman suffered a wrist injury but nothing was broken. For never giving up and staying in the game in difficult and committed conditions, Tom managed to demonstrate great lucidity during the final hours of the race, which, thanks to a good positioning, allowed him to secure a very fine sixth place. For almost four days, he sailed with a very painful left hand, almost immobilized by a strapping. For this performance and his self-sacrifice, Tom Dolan won this first Suzuki Combativeness Award 2025.
