Initially scheduled for Sunday, September 14, then postponed to Monday, September 15 at 2:30 p.m., off the coast of Morlaix Bay, the start of the second stage towards Vigo in Spain will finally be given at 7 p.m.

Unfortunately, the weather in the English Channel and off the tip of Brittany is still too severe to allow the fleet of 34 Figaro BENETEAU 3s to set sail in the best possible conditions. Race director Yann Chateau has decided to postpone the start again. The start will therefore be given tomorrow, Monday, September 15, at 7 p.m., heading for Vigo, Spain.

"We were very close to the upper limit for a 2:30 p.m. start, with a sea state that was still very rough in the North Brittany section and weather conditions at the start close to thirty knots with gusts of 35. After several exchanges and discussions, we preferred to postpone the start to 7 p.m., in more clement weather conditions, which will help reduce the number of accidents, both for the riders and the organization.

The goal is for the sailors to be able to compete on an equal footing during this leg. So we naturally made this decision. At the very least, the start must take place in conditions that are practicable and thus limit the risk of material damage," analyzes Yann Chateau.
