Initially planned for a route in the English Channel and towards the Irish coast and its famous Fastnet rock, the route of the first stage of La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec has been modified.

After a careful study of the weather conditions off the Channel exit, Yann Château, Race Director, decided to modify this course.
The 35 solo sailors and the 7 crews of the Défi Paprec will remain in the Channel for greater safety.
Starting Sunday at 1 p.m., the fleet will head for Skerries Bank in Cornwall before turning back towards Daffodils, a cardinal point located off the coast of Dieppe. A very studious navigation as the maritime traffic and the numerous fishing boats in the area will require constant vigilance from the sailors. After skirting the Dieppe coast, all will resume a route towards the west of the Bay of Seine, towards the Saint-Marcouf islands, a short distance from Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, at the eastern point of Cardonnet. A new crossing of the Channel towards the Needles Fairway crossing point will mark the final visit to England before beginning the final crossing of the Channel towards the Bay of Morlaix where the finale of this first, eventful leg will be judged.
This first 638-mile leg, with its unusual profile, will feature numerous crossings of the English Channel and the famous cargo ship route. The itinerary for this route should leave little time for sleep and recovery.
