Brittany region

The Brittany Region owns 21 ports along the Breton coastline, which carry out a wide variety of activities, including trade, shipbuilding and repair, fishing, as well as pleasure boating, island services, and tourism. Regardless of their size or specificity, these ports also have in common the fact that they are the center of numerous nautical activities and, for some, host the biggest offshore racing events. This is the case of the regional port of Roscoff, which is once again hosting a stage of the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, with the strong support of the Brittany Region.

Over the years, Brittany has established itself as one of the most sporting regions in France; and major nautical competitions have a lot to do with it! Ocean racing perfectly embodies the Breton spirit: a pronounced taste for effort and excellence, combined with values of commitment and solidarity. These are all principles that we share with these high-level athletes.

These offshore racing events also showcase the technological advances of Bretagne Sailing Valley®, an innovative ecosystem bringing together more than 220 cutting-edge companies, true leaders in their field. With nearly 2,300 jobs, this sector represents a major asset for our economy, which the Region is committed to supporting and structuring.

I wish everyone a great time of sport, sharing, and emotion. Fair winds to the sailors, especially Lola Billy and Victor Le Pape, skippers of the Brittany Region-CMB excellence program: we will be behind you for every mile you cover!

Loïg CHESNAIS-GIRARD, President of the Brittany Region
