After a colourful parade along the Gironde riversides crowed by thousands of cheerful supporters and a three hours sail sorrounded by a spectacular country scenery, the fleet has arrived in Pauillac. Time for a quick dinner and the 41 skippers will go to rest and re-charge their batteries to the max level, getting ready for tomorrow's big day. The starting signal will be given at 13:00 local time when the fleet will begin its long journey to Porto. This will be the skippers' last night spent in a dry and warm bed, something they will be longing for at least until next Wednesday, when they are expected to reach the historical town on the Portuguese coast.

Done and dusted with the prologue, that gave the skippers the opportunity to say goodbye to Bordeaux and the huge crowds who gathered on the riverbanks, the fleet reached Pauillac and everyone's mind is now set on tomorrow's start. The first is the longest, 536 nautical miles, of the four legs and also the newest with a start and a finish that are almost completely unknown to the skippers. A relatively easy crossing of the bay of Biscay, a strategically tricky passage at Cap Finisterre and a far trickier approach to the Portuguese coast: the outcome in Porto could be unexpected and unpredictable…
